PROFILE

BIOGRAPHY
Platinum Daviez, born Okungbowa Osasuyi Emmanuelle Davies on the 27th of August in Benin City, Edo State. All levels of schooling were done in Benin City.
An ex-student of Uniben Demonstration Secondary School (Demoben), Uniben, Benin City, and cuurently a 100 level student in the Mechanical Engineering of the said University, I started loving music at a very early age, say 13. I hooked up to rap at 14 because I liked the way they spoke so easily about things and still people had to pay attention to hear what they were saying. I started learning rap stances, voices, styles, and so on even before I could write my own lyrics.
By 2002, I had started writing my own lyrics, and so I began doing some mixtapes. I converted our deserted garage to a mini studio that contained only two speakers, two mikes, a piano (studio modified, which was my everything; mixer, recorder, etc.) and a tape recorder.
In 2003, I was invited to perform at a birthday party for a friend in Lagos, who was an uncle's neighbor. The DJ at the performance was intrigued, and he asked me to come do a show that Friday night at Club Phoenix, down south of Lagos Island. Thus, my line of performances began.
After some shows, I held back for academic reasons, but after finishng with secondary school in 2005, I went back to music, and right now, my 4-tracked debut album, "The Eleventh Hour" is due for June 2006, containing hit singles like "The One", "Skull n' crossbones."

THE NAME
The name "Platinum Daviez" came from the word Platinum. As y'all know, platinum is a metal that shines wherever, whenever. And I believe in shining like a star, no matter how far you are from everybody. The translation of "Platinum Daviez" therefore is 'Daviez is gon' shine like a star.' That's a proclaimation, I suppose?

INFLUENCES
My early influences came from people like Wyclef Jean, 2Pac, B.I.G., LL Cool J, and so on. Now, they are upgraded to a whole lot of others like G-Unit, Terror Squad, 213, Rocafella, Ludacris, Ruff Ryders, D-12, Mase, still Wyclef Jean, and all Nigerian rappers, especially Mode 9, Magnum, Da Trybe, and Ruggedman.

APPERANCES
As said earlier, my very first performance was at a birthday bash. Then at a club. From then on, it's been a whole lot of mix-ups. Ranging from Arts and Cultural Festivals, to performances at the clubs. There have also been shows in Universities and Polytechnics, COLBEN, and so on. Also, birthday parties, social gatherings, and mini-comedy shows.

Note they are upcoming because they have released none of their tracks but are likely to do so in the next two months. So, I wish them luck.

PRODUCERS AND PRODUCTION
My current producer is the well known Andy Bello of EBS. he's the only one I've ever worked with, because I've done most of my productions myself under my own infamous label, "Pino Records" and "Six-Four Productions". Most of my tracks have been done at FX Studios, Benin under DJ FX, and VVP Studios, Benin, under DJ Sunny.
The single of "Sumthin' dey" is already out and is being given a lot of airplay on the radios and in the clubs. The next single is to be "Skull n' Crossbones" due for January 2006.
